Industrial Agitators

At TIMSA we offer our clients all the knowledge acquired over more than thirty years manufacturing industrial mixers, providing high quality equipment designed to perform under the most demanding conditions.

More than 70,000 mixers supplied worldwide endorse our experience.

Vertical Agitators

Low Speed Agitator PA

We have an extensive top-mounted vertical agitator manufacturing program that can be adapted to all types of tanks, regardless of their capacity or design geometry.

Horizontal Agitator

HRT side-entry agitator with mechanical seal and safety stuffing box

Side-entry or horizontal agitators are a practical solution for homogenisation and storage in large tanks.

¿What is an industrial agitator?

Industrial mixers are rotating machines that are used to mix and homogenise two or more products with different or equal phases inside a tank, creating a flow between the liquids or between liquids and solids so as to obtain other products already mixed and homogenised for the following purposes:

Solid-liquid mixtures
Soluble powders: dissolution & homogenizing.
Non-soluble powders: maintaining in suspension, homogenizing & dispersion.

Liquid-liquid mixtures
Miscible liquids: maintaining in suspension, homogenizing & dilution.
Inmiscible liquids: emulsion.

Complex rheology of viscous mixtures
Maintaining in suspension, dissolution, homogenizing, dispersion, heat transfer & grinding

Every industrial mixer consists essentially of an engine, a reduction gearbox, a drive shaft, and a driving part designed according to the characteristics of the products and the needs of the mixture.

Industrial Agitator

Agitators Range

The selection of the type of agitator to be used stems from the analysis of a certain number of parameters related to each process:

  • Type of mixing and position.
    • Axial flow rotors.
    • Radial flow rotors.
    • Mixed flow rotors.
    • Rotors for dispersion and emulsion.
  • Geometry of the tank (dimensions, type of assembly).
  • Rotation speed (related to the intensity of the mixing).
  • Mixing intensity (related to the speed of rotation).
  • Physical conditions imposed by the process (pressure and temperature).

The driving parts are classified according to the type of flow they produce, their pumping capacity, and their shear effect. The main rotors used are the following:

Marine propeller (axial flow)

industrial agitators with marine propeller
  • Rotation speed 1.000–1.500rpm.
  • Non-viscous fluids.
  • Medium pumping capacity.
  • Low shearing strength.

Propeller t10 (axial flow)

industrial agitators with axial propeller
  • Rotation speed 40–300rpm.
  • Non-viscous fluids
  • High pumping capacity.
  • Low shearing strength.

Axial propeller t25 (axial flow)

axial flow industrial agitators
  • Rotation speed 1–300rpm.
  • Non-viscous products.
  • Very high pumping capacity.
  • Low shearing strength.

Pitch blade turbine (axial turbine)

turbine industrial agitators with flat blades
  • Rotation speed 30–150rpm.
  • Low viscous products.
  • Medium pumping capacity.
  • Low shearing strength.

Two-way flow turbine (axial flow)

double axial flow turbine agitator
  • Rotation speed 30–150rpm.
  • Viscous products.
  • Medium pumping capacity.
  • Low shearing strength.

Anchor (radial flow)

industrial anchor agitator
  • Rotation speed1–20rpm.
  • Viscous products.
  • Very low pumping flow.
  • Low shearing strength.

Cowles disk
(radial flow)

Industrial Agitator Cowles Disk
  • Rotation speed1.000–1.500rpm.
  • High viscous products.
  • Very low pumping capacity.
  • Very low shearing strength.

Rusthon disk

Industrial Agitator Rusthon Disk
  • Rotation speed1.000–1.500rpm.
  • Non viscous products.
  • Very low pumping capacity.
  • High shearing strength.

Tank agitators

The geometry of the tank and the type of assembly are determining factors in the design and sizing of each mixer. Depending on the type of assembly, industrial mixers are classified as follows:

Top-entry agitators

Vertical Agitator
  • High or low rotation speed.
  • Axial or radial flow propeller.
  • Dilution, dissolution, dispersion, homogenization, solids suspension and heat transfer.

Side-entry agitators

side-entry agitators
  • Low rotation speed.
  • Pusher or cartridge seal. Stuffing box.
  • Axial flow propeller.
  • Homogenization, storage and solids suspension.

Submersible Agitators

submersible agitators
  • Low and high rotation speed
  • Axial flow propeller.
  • Mixing and homogenization. Flow makers.

Refrigeration and Pressure Compensation Systems

There are a large number of industrial processes that take place under pressure and temperature special conditions, such as exothermic reactions in closed containers, where a large amount of heat is released causing an increase in pressure inside the container and such pressure may fluctuate throughout the process.

To provide a solution to these mixing needs, various pressure maintenance and compensation systems must be included in the design of the mixers, as well as different cooling systems that can withstand the high temperatures reached during the process.

The selection of each system is always determined by the operating conditions:

Stuffing box

stuffing box
  • Vertical or side mounting.
  • Moderate pressure.
  • High temperature.
  • Pressurized cooling system.

Pusherseal

stirrer with simple mechanical seal
  • Vertical or side-entry mixers.
  • Moderate pressure.
  • Moderate temperature.

Cartridge seal

  • Vertical or side mounting.
  • High pressure.
  • High temperature.
  • Pressurized cooling systems.
